Exceptional 1982 José Ramírez 1A (No. 16634), a true collector-grade instrument built during one of the most sought-after eras of the Ramírez workshop in Madrid.
This guitar was originally purchased new in Spain directly from the Ramírez shop in 1982 and has remained with a single owner since. It has been carefully maintained over its lifetime and presents in remarkably clean condition for its age.
Constructed with a solid cedar top and Brazilian rosewood back and sides, this instrument delivers the unmistakable Ramírez tonal character—deep, dark basses, clear and singing trebles, and strong projection with excellent sustain. The voice is rich, refined, and unmistakably Spanish in character—often associated with the classic “Segovia” sound.
Playability is solid with a traditional setup. There is still room on the saddle for adjustment if a lower action is desired.
Tone
Classic Ramírez response:
Deep, rounded basses
Warm, lyrical trebles
Strong projection and headroom
Long sustain
Balanced, concert-level voice suited for both performance and recording
Condition
Outstanding overall condition, especially for a 44-year-old instrument. The guitar shows minimal cosmetic wear with only a slight finish blemish in the armrest area. Very few scratches or markings. Frets appear good condition however a professional cleaning would bring it even closer to near-mint presentation.
Structurally excellent and well preserved.
