Offered for sale is an exceptional 1994 Dominique Field No. 103, handcrafted in Paris during one of the most sought-after periods of Dominique Field's career. Built in very limited numbers, Field guitars have earned an international reputation among concert artists and collectors for their remarkable refinement, tonal sophistication, and uncompromising craftsmanship. Early examples such as this rarely become available and are widely regarded as some of the finest modern concert guitars being produced.

Working within the great French tradition established by Robert Bouchet and Daniel Friederich, Dominique Field developed his own distinctive voice by combining traditional hand-building techniques with subtle innovations that enhance projection, sustain, and tonal color. Rather than building guitars that rely solely on raw power, Field sought balance, responsiveness, and extraordinary nuance, creating instruments capable of revealing every detail of a player's touch.

This guitar features a beautifully matured bearclaw European spruce top paired with premium Indian rosewood back and sides. The voice is refined yet powerful, producing rich, controlled basses, singing trebles, and exceptional clarity throughout the fingerboard. Harmonic content is abundant without becoming overly complex, allowing each note to retain remarkable focus even in dense contrapuntal passages. Whether performing Bach, Villa-Lobos, Barrios, or the great Romantic repertoire, the guitar offers effortless projection with an extraordinary palette of tonal colors.

Playability is outstanding with a traditional 650 mm scale length and generous 53 mm nut width. The current setup measures 3.1 mm on the bass side and 2.8 mm on the treble side at the 12th fret with approximately 1.5 mm of saddle remaining. The neck feels exceptionally comfortable, encouraging both lyrical phrasing and demanding concert technique.

The guitar remains in excellent overall condition. It features one professionally repaired top crack extending from the bridge to the lower bout along with a professionally repaired back center seam crack. Both repairs are structurally sound and have no impact on the instrument's remarkable concert performance.
